About us
Laurie and Brent started a wonderful Sunday gathering, and many residents joined in. Their 'welcome' set the tone for what living at The Wilshire could feel like — and credit is owed to them for starting something this good. Residents expressed interest in doing more events to bring residents together. And so, Vertical Neighbors @ The Wilshire was born.
Vertical Neighbors builds on what Laurie and Brent started - adding local outings, watch parties, holiday gatherings, and other events throughout the year. The Sunday gatherings continue every week, and now there's more awareness of upcoming gatherings and events too.
What we're trying to do
Our purpose is simple: bring neighbors together through casual meetups, seasonal gatherings, and well-planned events that spark conversation and community. Buildings become better places to live when neighbors know one another.
We aim to be inclusive, friendly, and practical — planning events that appeal to a wide range of residents and keeping communication clear. Transparency matters too: residents should always know how events are planned, how funds are used, and how to get involved.
What we are
- An informal, resident-run social group, organized by a small group of volunteers.
- Open to every resident — no membership, no dues, no application.
- Focused on warmth, hospitality, and genuinely good gatherings.
- Funded event-by-event: sometimes potluck, sometimes voluntary contributions, sometimes covered by an organizer.
What we are not
- We are not affiliated with the HOA, its Board or building management.
- We don't speak for residents on building matters or governance.
- We don't collect dues or maintain a membership list.
- We don't handle complaints, maintenance, or anything operational.
Want to help organize?
We're always glad to welcome new organizers. If you'd like to host a gathering — big or small — come to the next event and let one of us know.
